Accomplishments

In 2008, OMEP-Canada celebrated its 50th anniversary. Several activities and projects have been realized since its inception. Here are a few of OMEP-Canada’s accomplishments.

CECEKON TOY LIBRARYenfant_jouets

Training and support to create a toy library,  project in partnership with the Atikamekw Community of Opitciwan, Québec;

 

TOY LIBRARIES FOR THE CHILDREN OF AFRICA

A toy library created in Democratic Republic of Congo, and training of toy librarians from seven African countries, with the collaboration of the French NGO C.I.E.LO ;

CHILDREN VISITING PRISONS

A program to support children of incarcerated parents and their parents, Alberta and Ontario;

BOOKS…ARE ALSO VITAMINS FOR CHILDREN

Workshops for disadvantaged young parents on reading books to their babies and young children, Québec;

A TOY LIBRARY FOR YOU

Major program to establish toy libraries in five Latin American countries, and train personnel;

SUPPORT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TOY LIBRARIES

Workshops, in Haiti, on establishing a toy library. Training, in Québec, of personnel for Rwanda and Romania;

SUPPORT AND INTEGRATION

Assistance to the children of immigrant families in Alberta;

SELF-ESTEEM PROJECT

Collaboration to the dissemination of a series of letters to parents on topics related to the development of self-esteem in children of preschool and elementary school ages, Québec;
